Eastern Bank Ltd. (EBL) has launched Travel Card in Bangladesh to make the business travel across the world easier and hassle-free.

EBL Travel Card has been designed to give tourists a much better alternative of carrying cash and running after money exchange houses. This will also make the travelers free from the risk of buying counterfeit notes.

EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar formally introduced the 'EBL Travel Card' in a press conference at a city hotel Monday.

EBL Deputy Managing Director Mamoon Mahmood Shah, Head of' Marketing and acting Head of Cards Nazeem A. Choudhury and Head of Card Operations Md. Saifuzzaman were present oil the occasion.

EBL Travel Card is a prepaid Visa card that is issued against individual travel quota of' a traveler - accepted in over 24 million Visa outlets and ATMs worldwide.

A traveller can load in his/her EBL Travel Card up to US$ 3,000 for visiting non-SAARC countries and US$ 1,000 for SAARC Countries and Myanmar in a calendar year.

There will be no cash-travellers cheque limit restriction in case of EBL Travel Card in purchasing foreign currency quota from a bank. The cardholder can take full quota entitlement through EBL Travel Card.

While travelling a country, the card holder may withdraw cash seventy-five per cent of' the loaded amount in local currency through any Visa ATM. In that case ATM usage fee will be applicable.

Roaming telephone bills can also be paid through the Travel Card. There is no transaction fee for purchases. The card is PIN protected for security and there will be the privilege of a free back-up card, to be safe against lost or theft of the primary card. The card is re-loadable in Bangladesh against remaining individual travel quota without any reload fee.

EBL Travel Card will be available for Tk. 500 as annual fee and instantly be issued from any EBL branches after depositing the amount and providing necessary documents.
