PRAN Agro Limited, a sister concern of PRAN-RFL Group, has achieved district-wise highest value added tax (VAT) payer award for the year 2007-08.
In this connection, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) organised a function in the city Wednesday.
Finance and Planning Adviser AB Mirza Md Azizul Islam was present at the award handing-over ceremony as the chief guest and handed over the award, said a press release.
Chief Executive of the Group Amjad Khan Chowdhury received the award.
Chairman of the NBR Mohammad Abdul Mazid presided over the function.
Government officials, representatives from different business organisations and members of the NBR were present on the occasion.
The NBR arranged such a programme for the first time since introduction of the VAT system in 1991, the release mentioned.
PRAN Agro is a food processing company with its manufacturing unit at Natore. PRAN Agro started its business in 1999 and now it is producing jam-jelly, pickle, chutney, sauce-ketch up, mustard oil and powdered spices.
A total of 67 highest VAT payers in three categories -- manufacturing, business and service -- in each district were awarded on the occasion, the release added.
